The Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist is focused on promotion of long-term addiction recovery, with recovery most frequently defined in terms of sobriety (or remission), enhancement of wellness and recovery capital, and healing of person-community relationship. The NCPRSS is a non-clinical, recovery support model, being integrated into behavioral health, which emerged out of grassroots recovery community organizations and expansion is an of recovery support services.
